We’re spending a little time reflecting on the past year at the Bay Club. And as we say our goodbyes to 2018, we look back on all of the features here on One Lombard that inspired you. From IGNITE at Bay Club San Francisco, to DIYs and tasty recipes, to huge renovations at not one, but two locations—2018 has been a year full of #bayclubhappy moments. Here are your top 10 most-read features of the year!
We Talked to Our Little Campers
It’s a well-known fact that Kids Say the Darndest Things—and we can attest to that! But what we sometimes forget is that little ones have more wisdom than we realize. So, to kick off the New Year, we stopped by our Winter Break Kids Camps at Carmel Valley, Courtside, and Gateway to find out what our happy campers want to do more of in 2018 and what being healthy means to them.
We Fell In Love
With thousands of members a day visiting our Bay Club locations across California, it was only a matter of time before some true love stories surfaced, whether on the fitness floor, in a class, or at an event. We are proud to play Cupid, and swoon when hearing stories of our members falling in love, with the Bay Club setting the stage. After all, we love love!
We Preserved Winter Citrus
As spring (almost) officially makes its entrance, we’ve been feeling a little nostalgic for all the things we love about the wintery months. Chilly weather and chapped lips aside, some of our favorite things really shine in winter, including all kinds of citrus. So we decided to preserve the colors, flavors, and benefits of our favorite oranges, grapefruits, and lemons—oh my!—so we can enjoy them for the months to come in the form of delicious drinks, alcoholic or non. Here are three ways you can easily preserve citrus.
We Stretched After Our Workouts
From barre to power cycling to lifting weights, before working out, most people do some sort of stretching to warm up the body. However, when it comes to post-fitness routines, stretching is often overlooked—and it shouldn’t be. Rushing out of a class or the gym without giving your body enough time to slow down could result in an injury. For the best recovery, it’s crucial to stretch after a workout.
We Made Margs and Salsa
Well, hello there May! It seems like just yesterday it was winter, and now we’re starting to warm up with one of our favorite days of the year: Cinco de Mayo. And there’s no better excuse to upgrade your go-to margarita and salsa recipes! As much as we love a classic lime margarita and a pico de gallo, mixing it up is never a bad thing. So, we’re here to help you spice up your repertoire this year with two twists for your Cinco de Mayo celebration: A mango, jalapeño salsa and margarita, and a watermelon salsa and margarita. You’ll be the hit of the fiesta!
We Made Interesting Smoothies
From fruit-forward to vegetable-based, there are virtually endless options when it comes to smoothies. That means smoothies are a one-hundred percent customizable meal that can be enjoyed morning, noon, or night. Most smoothies, especially the ones made in Bay Club cafes, are filled with protein, greens, fruit, and seeds making them a healthy and tasty pre-or-post workout snack.
We IGNITED our Workout
Did you know that every six months, the Bay Club’s stellar fitness team announces an entirely new type of class? This summer, we’re thrilled to debut our latest workout, IGNITE. This 50-minute high-intensity interval training class works every single part of the body. With dynamic motions, you’ll not only be burning calories but build muscle and strength—essentially igniting your entire form to the power of a positive workout.
We Made Dairy-Free Ice Cream
I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream! If you’re shaking your head thinking, I can’t have ice cream: I’m vegan or lactose intolerant or allergic to milk, think again. With the proper ingredients, a powerful blender, a freezer, and some basic culinary know-how, you can quickly whip up an incredible batch of dairy-free ice cream.
We Took our Workout to the Pool
Water workouts are typically on the gentler side of the fitness spectrum, but that’s not the case with the Bay Club’s new GlideFit program. GlideFit isn’t your grandmother’s water aerobics class—it’s a wildly challenging water workout that requires incredible strength—and New Zealand’s All Blacks Sevens love the class too!
We Thanked our Associates
As Thanksgiving quickly approaches, we want to slow down and show our gratitude for the dedicated team members who make the Bay Club the special place that it is. And since Thanksgiving is all about family and friends (okay, and food!), we’re launching our annual Thankful Campaign here on One Lombard. We’ll be featuring Bay Club associates, and sharing what we love about each and every one of them.
