Associate Spotlight: Finding His Fittest Self

If you read our last inspiring member spotlight, you know we’re all about rooting on our Bay Club members in their fitness pursuits. And this week’s spotlight is further motivation for anyone seeking a change—and a challenge. At the Bay Club, we know that fitness isn’t one-size-fits-all. We all start at different levels, have different goals, and certainly have different ways of reaching them. For some, fitness success comes with group classes that hold them accountable; for others it comes from regular sports training, like swimming or tennis. For Robert, a Bay Club South Bay associate, new levels were reached with the help of personal trainer, Julian Lindsay. Together, the two of them worked to lose weight, but more importantly, increase Robert’s confidence.

Though Robert had always been active through basketball, he’d never committed himself to a fitness routine. Working with Julian changed that. Motivated to get in shape and think positively about himself, Robert decided to train with a pro—and eight months later, he’s lost 65 pounds. “I’ve been training with Julian for eight months,” Robert says. “And he never let me lose focus of my goals.”

Of course, seeing these kinds of results takes time, and Robert helped Julian see his fitness journey as one that would require patience.  “It’s important to be realistic and give it time,” Robert says. Although losing weight has certainly been a welcome reward for all his hard work, Robert is most proud of creating new habits along the way—and sticking to them!

We asked Robert to describe his fitness journey in three words. He answered, “challenging, rewarding, and motivating.” If that’s not enough to encourage someone, we don’t know what is!

If you’re looking for a way to mix up your routine, get a personalized plan for fitness, and have someone to hold you accountable—consider working with a personal trainer like Robert did. Our popular new classes, like The Battle, The Drop, and NC FIT are also some of our members’ favorite ways to push their physical limits—and find a whole new side of themselves.
