Tech Takes on Fitness: 5 Favorite Health Apps

We strive to make the Bay Club a place that helps you stay happy and fit, no matter how you choose to do it! But we also know there are days you can’t make it into the club, or days you need a little more support—and that’s where wellness apps can be incredibly helpful!

They’ve got an app for everything these days: From grocery delivery to trash removal, apps are always looking for ways to make modern-day priorities a little more convenient. And if your health is important to you, there are apps specifically designed to help you stay on track with your goals. We rounded up our top five wellness apps to show you all the ways that tech can help you stay healthy.

Couch to 5K
Best for: Beginner runners and fitness newbies
Couch to 5K is a fantastic motivational app that will help you train with expert coaching. You can track distance and pace, and the app will help you set up a training timeline and goal that will make you ready for race time. There’s also a social component if you’re looking for ways to share progress with friends or interact with other runners.

Sworkit
Best for: Circuit lovers, HIIT-style workout enthusiasts, and kids
Sworkit makes it much easier to motivate yourself for a solo fit session! With 200 types of exercises, and the personalized guidance to help you through each move, you’ll stay engaged with every exercise. You can choose from a standard workout that’s already been designed, or customize your own if you really want to just target certain muscles. It’s interval training and coaching all in one!

Strava
Best for: Cyclists and long distance runners
While Strava may not seem that unique in its ability to track long distance activity (plenty of apps do that), the real benefit of Strava is what it gives you in performance analytics. You’ll know when you pushed the hardest in your route, where you took it easy, and compare all that data across workouts. There’s also a bit of competition baked in, as you can compare your ride performance with that of other runners and cyclists who did the same route.

Athleats
Best for: Active people looking for good nutrition tracking
With Athleats, you can do more than just keep track of calories and macros. You can also meal plan using over 60,000 other tried and true recipes from other athletes! Sort by dietary preferences, and even get all the nutritional breakdown from each meal.

Yoga Studio
Best for: Yogis (of all levels) who can’t make it to a class
Designed to make yoga accessible no matter where you are or how much time you have, Yoga Studio features 65 yoga classes that range from 10 to 60 minutes in length. You can customize flow sequence, music, and even add meditation into the mix! It’s a well-rounded yoga app that makes a good flow convenient and fun.
