Thankful for DIYs: Burlap Utensil Holder

Thankful for DIYs: Burlap Utensil Holder

We’re always thankful for a DIY that looks great and goes to good use (and bonus when the little ones can help out!). And for Thanksgiving next week, we’re adding these decorative burlap utensil holders to our Turkey Day table setting. And the best part about these? They’re easy to make, and reusable for all of your festivities this season…plus, you can customize with your choice of colors!

Burlap Utensil Holders

Materials Needed
Burlap bags (4×6)
Gift bag tags
Blue ribbon
Acrylic paint
Electrical tape
Paintbrushes
Metallic marker
Ruler

Instructions

First, mix the paint colors. For the dark red, add a drop of brown and some white to the red. For the dark orange, add a drop of red, brown, and white. The colors will dry darker than when wet.

Place a piece of tape across the bag about 1 1/4 inches from the bottom.

Paint the bottom section of the bag with the dark red paint. Wait 15 minutes, paint a second coat, and then let dry completely.

Place a piece of tape along the edge of the painted section, and another piece of tape 1 1/4 inch above the bottom piece.

Paint this section with the dark orange paint. Wait 15 minutes, paint a second coat, and then let it dry completely.

Repeat on the other side of the bag (optional).

Use a metallic marker to write “thankful,” or “grateful” on the tag. Tie the tag onto the bag with the blue ribbon.

Fill the bag with a napkin and utensils and place it on your table for Thanksgiving! Your guests will love the detail (and they’re reusable for next year!). Happy Thanksgiving from all of us at the Bay Club.
