French fries are always a crowd favorite. They work as an appetizer or a side, are the perfect vehicle for any sauce enthusiast, and pair well with just about everything—seafood, burgers, and even salads. Not to mention, nothing quite compares to that salty flavor and starchy crunch. Luckily, there are many ways to kick this food obsession up a notch. Our favorite way to eat fries is baking them and switching to sweet potatoes for extra nutrients. This recipe is the perfect complement to your next meal, no matter how fancy or casual.
Ingredients
1-2 medium to large sweet potatoes
Salt
Pepper
Olive oil
2 tbsp cornstarch
Directions
Preheat the oven to 425 F
Peel and slice your sweet potatoes into fry-shaped pieces. We suggest cutting them into similar sizes so they bake evenly.
Lightly coat the slices with olive oil, and evenly distribute a dusting of corn starch over fries, so there are no powdery spots (corn starch helps to make the fries crispy!).
Put fries on a non-stick baking sheet, or tin foil with non-stick spray.
Bake for 15 minutes and then flip fries over and cook for another 10-15 minutes until crispy.
Enjoy! Be sure to check out our other sweet potato recipes: Lasagna, fritters, and toast.
