You know that saying, “Don’t put off until tomorrow what could be done today?” While this might make you feel (at first) like you’ve failed unless you’ve checked everything off your to-do list, we actually love this quote as motivation to not put goals off until the future. In fact, you don’t have to wait for a new year to make and reach your goals.
Need a little inspiration for what you can work on before the end of 2017? Here are a few ideas for better fitness and self care to give you a before-the-end-of-year bucket list.
Try a New Fitness Class
Come January 1, everyone focuses on a better fitness routine. You’ve got that holiday food to work off, so you find the time for the classes you may have skipped before. Our thoughts? Try something new now! There’s always an opportunity to take a class you’ve never tried, whether you’re a runner who could really use some yoga stretching, or a Pilates pro who might just love some interval cardio in a cycling class. Trying new things is part of what makes life fun, and fitness is no exception! Looking for some motivation? Follow all our tips and advice to help you Hold It for the Holidays.
Treat Yourself to a Spa Day
Don’t wait for that winter weather and holiday snacking to wreak havoc on your skin! Self-care is integral to any good health routine, skin care included. If you’ve noticed your sleep is lacking (maybe it’s been really busy at work), this can also cause your skin to lose that healthy glow. Schedule some time for your own TLC and enjoy a spa treatment that will help you look your best.
Learn to Cook a Really Good Meal
One of the best ways to stay in shape and watch your nutrition is to cook at home—you avoid all the unhealthy oils, salts, and fats that restaurants use in their food. We’re willing to bet you follow one or two (or 100) food bloggers on Instagram, so get some inspiration from one of their recipes (or one right here at One Lombard!) and try it out yourself! Plus, this is a goal that will give something back to everyone enjoying the meal with you.
Do Something Good for Someone Else
We tend to remember the importance of giving to others right around the holidays. We’ve got a full list of philanthropies we love to help, and you can be a part of our support. Whether you want to donate to the Northern California fire victims or give toys or funds to Toys for Tots, there are plenty of ways for you to do something good for someone in need before the end of the year.
Get Your Holiday Shopping Done Early
Ah, every year we tend to do this—leave our gift shopping until the last possible moment! Shopping can get more chaotic the farther we get into the holiday season, so this year make it your goal to get your gifts for mom, dad, your best friend, and the whole family before you stress yourself out. Head over to The Shop to find the perfect gifts—from comfy athleisure to fitness gadgets—for the whole family.
Your New Year’s resolutions don’t need to start in the new year, what are you looking forward to accomplishing before the year ends?
