Motivational Member Spotlight: The Power of THE DROP

With the launch of our newest fitness programs this year, we’ve been inspired by the many physical transformations we’ve seen through classes like The DROP, The Battle, and NC Fit, including the story of Bay Club South Bay members Brittney and Leon. 18 months after taking their first DROP, a signature class designed exclusively by Breann Mitchell, featuring H.I.I.T (High Intensity Interval Training) and light yoga, Brittney and Leon have both seen remarkable physical changes. But fitness wasn’t always such a big part of their lives.

“We weren’t always into fitness,” Brittney says.  “It wasn’t until after college, when we both realized we weren’t comfortable in our own skin, and we wanted to feel good about ourselves. We started walking more, and that turned into jogging, and that turned into running. Before we knew it, we were doing 5k’s.”

What brought them to the Bay Club, and ultimately to The DROP, was a desire to keep up with their newfound fitness, and find a motivating community after a hectic move to LA.

“With all the chaos and stress of the trip, new jobs, and life changes, we found ourselves sinking into old habits. A few months after we moved to LA, I mentioned to some ladies I’d met that we were looking to join a gym. I had really come to love group classes for working out; they push you in ways that you don’t always do on your own. I also love meeting different people there,” Brittney says.

After completing her first DROP class, Brittney was hooked. “It was so hard! I barely even made it through the first class. But within the challenge, there was epic music and an awesome support system. Breann introduced herself and was super encouraging. She kept saying, ‘It will get easier.’ I’m still waiting for that day,” Brittney says, laughing.

And they’ve been DROP devotees ever since. They love the upbeat energy of the class, the constantly-changing movements, and the community they’ve found.

“We’ve been going consistently for the last year and a half. Breann and the people we’ve met notice when we’re gone—we can’t stop now. That’s the accountability part I love so much. On a fitness journey you need some support!”

“Because of The DROP and our community at the Bay Club, we’ve really started to accelerate in the past few months. While fitness has been a long journey for us, with the help of the 6-week challenges and the nutrition diaries, we’ve been able to make huge strides. We’ve been amazed by the changes in our body and how strong we feel!”

Though they both celebrate the fact that The DROP has led to a significant drop in their body fat percentages, they’re most proud of their healthier lifestyle overall. And they’d recommend the DROP to every Bay Club member. “The biggest reason is the energy in the room! When we walk into that room, we are all a team. Everyone is trying their hardest. We are all in it together. No matter what the day has been like, you can check it at the door and feed off the energy of the room to get you through. When the beat drops, so do your excuses. We mean business in the best of ways.”
