Mommy and Me Time at the Bay Club

Mommy and Me Time at the Bay Club

Spending a day with your mini me is always a special treat. Bay Club member, Caroline Curran shares with us her favorite things about her mom and daughter days at Bay Club Redwood Shores (and her pro-tips for a little extra fun!).

Since becoming a member of the Bay Club, I have used the club for everything from workouts to work meetings. As a San Francisco city-dweller, I love how convenient the locations are! It’s a cinch to take Chariot to the 555 California location or hop in the car to cruise along scenic 280 to Redwood Shores. The number of locations is just one of the many things we love about having a Club West family membership.

With the rising temperatures, there’s a 99% chance you’ll find us on any given Sunday at Bay Club Redwood Shores sitting and splashing poolside. I mean, you simply cannot beat how family friendly the entire experience is—there really is something for everyone. We have found that what works well for us is to play together as a family and then have my husband Jesse spend some time getting his workout in at the pool, weight room, or basketball court while us ladies go on our own adventure.

I am delighted to share with everyone the fun adventures that my daughter Lillian and I get to enjoy regularly as members of the Bay Club! Here’s what we like to do at Bay Club Redwood Shores specifically:

Serve Up Some Tennis: With gorgeous views and nine courts, we love spending time by the outdoor tennis courts. We dress in our tennis whites and watch the players rally back and forth. I love watching Lillian get so excited—she is simply fixated on the fast-moving ball. What I love about the Bay Club is there are players of all skill levels, making the atmosphere feel inviting. You can catch a match of advanced doubles, playful exercise, and budding tennis youngsters having lessons all at once.

My Bay Club Pro-tip: The tennis courts are always buzzing so don’t forget to book your court in advance!

Refuel with a Delicious Meal: While we absolutely love grabbing a quick bite from the Cafe, there’s nothing quite like sitting poolside for a delicious brunch spread. Bloody Mary: check! Huevos rancheros: check! Happy mom and toddler: check!

My Bay Club Pro-tip: You have to order the pancakes—the almond butter that comes with them is out of this world! I’ve been thinking about that butter since we left and can’t wait for my next stack.

Splash Our Hearts Out: Honestly there is nothing that makes me happier than a pool—swimming, splashing, lounging—it’s all my favorite. Since I grew up in San Francisco with elaborate dreams of endless pool days, spending time at Redwood Shores is my heaven. I am so grateful that Lillian is a natural water baby and we can’t wait to sign her up for swim lessons!

I could go on and on about how we love the four pools available to children (not including the lap pool for adults only) and every time we go I feel a little bit like Goldilocks—first we dip our toes in the splash zone, then head to the covered pool for a little shade, then warm back up and head to the outdoor warm pool, then do it all over again!

One of the unexpected bonuses of hanging out at the Bay Club is how family-friendly it is. There are always kids splashing away and running around having fun. It’s a blast to see Lillian in the pool playing with other kids. I can’t wait to sign Lillian up for the Bay Club summer camps when she is older!

My Bay Club Pro-tip: I’m going to let you in on a big secret but I feel like I can because we’re friends, right? Okay, the best spots to relax all day are the four sun chairs right in front of the waterslide (yes, there is an incredible water slide with two switchbacks!)—you get to be right in front of the action, the sunlight hits you perfectly and there’s just enough shade. They’re highly coveted spots so if you have to get there in the morning to grab them, especially on hot days.

What we really love about the Bay Club is that it fulfills both our needs for every day and weekend adventure use. I feel like we are still discovering new amenities each time we visit a club! Some of the other things I like to do at the Bay Club is take a private pilates session, shoot around at the indoor basketball court (I did win the state championship in basketball my senior year of high school!), sit in the sauna, and if I’m feeling like I need a little extra pampering, I will head to the spa! Yes, you read that correctly! Bay Club Redwood Shores has the best spa. The celebrity-favorite HydraFacial is my favorite.

If you are looking for something fun to do with your little one then I suggest you check out the great amenities at Bay Club!
