FOOD DRIVE VOLUNTEERING DETAILS

Thank you for your interest in volunteering as part of Bay Club Cares and Feeding America. We are so excited to share Bay Club designated Volunteering options for our members and associates (with complimentary shuttle services from our clubs and back!).

Please read the details for your location closely, as they all vary by county as well as age, and Covid19 restrictions. And if your location is not included, please check back soon for more information. 

Marin | San FranciscoPeninsula | East Bay | South Bay | Los Angeles | San Diego

MARIN

*Shuttle service: Pick up at Bay Club Marin at 11:30 am, return back to the club by 2:30 pm
What do you need to know: 

  • Volunteers MUST be 11 years or older and minors must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Only volunteer if you are healthy and completely comfortable serving.
  • Closed-toe shoes are required at all volunteer projects.
  • We recommend volunteers not wear jewelry. If worn, all items must be covered by the provided gloves and/or hairnets.
  • We suggest dressing in casual and clean layers, as the temperature in the warehouse is often cool.

SAN FRANCISCO

What do you need to know: 

  • Teams responses are welcome! Please remember to have each person create a profile and response.
  • Volunteers MUST be 13 years or older. Volunteers younger than 15 years old must be accompanied by an adult. 
  • Wear close-toed shoes
  • We will be outside, please wear comfortable clothing (we recommend layers, a hat, and sunscreen due to the ever-changing weather conditions)
  • Be aware there will not be a place to store personal belongings, please do not bring valuables
  • Please bring a secure lidded water bottle and a snack
  • Volunteers must wear gloves at all times (provided by the food bank)
  • We ask that any volunteer who does not feel well refrain from attending their volunteer shift
  • Pantries will take place rain or shine

PENINSULA

What do you need to know: 

  • Volunteers must be at least 14 years old.
  • Adult guardians are required to actively volunteer with teens 14-15 years old.
  • Electronic permission from a legal guardian is required in advance for volunteers under 18.
  • Mask use is required
  • If you are not feeling well, please cancel and join us another time.
  • Volunteers may help set up tables, unload food, distribute groceries, and fresh produce, and clean up. Some heavy lifting may be required.
  • Wear closed toed shoes. Long pants are highly recommended but not required. Sleeveless shirts and sandals are not permitted.
  • Please tie back long hair and avoid wearing loose or dangly jewelry.
  • Wear comfortable clothing and if needed, bring sunglasses, sunscreen and hats. Dress for the weather as most distributions are entirely outdoors and may not protected from sun, wind or rain.
  • Bring water and snacks. It can get very hot and volunteering involves physical activity. Come prepared so you can keep your energy level up!

EAST BAY

What do you need to know: 

  • Age Minimum (with Adult): 11+Minimum Age: 16+ without adult
  • Closed-toe shoes are mandatory (tennis shoes are fine).
  • Volunteers who are not scheduled will not be permitted to participate. 
  • All volunteers are required to wear a mask or face covering during their shift. No masks will be provided.
  • Volunteers who are not feeling well or are displaying fever, cough or flu-like symptoms, or may have been recently been exposed to COVID-19 and/or are awaiting test results are not permitted to participate in a volunteer shift.
  • Dress for the weather- our distributions take place outdoors, rain or shine and our warehouse is not climate controlled, wear layers when participating in a volunteer shift.

  • Bring proof of vaccination or a negative PCR test within 72 hours of volunteering
  • Shoes that cover your entire foot are required, preferably sneakers or boots.
  • Appropriate clothing should be worn for your volunteer shift – limited jewelry, no perfume/cologne, and comfortable clothing that you don’t mind getting a little dirty.
  • Dressing in layers is recommended since our warehouse is not climate-controlled. This also means that the air quality outside will affect the air quality in the warehouse – please be aware of this if you have respiratory sensitivities.
  • Volunteers are encouraged to bring a pair of sturdy, reusable work gloves. 
  • DO NOT come on-site if you’re experiencing any signs of illness, even if you think it’s not COVID-19. Stay home.
  • The entrance is beneath the orange awning, in front of the parking lot.
  • We recommend bringing a reusable water bottle. Other personal belongings should be safely secured in your car (purse, earphones, backpacks).

What do you need to know: 

  • Visit http://vhub.at/fsd to sign up to volunteer (all volunteers must sign up!)
  • Click “Sign in” in the upper right-hand corner and follow the steps as instructed.
  • During this step, you will be asked to enter your groups join code: 2868
  • After you sign in or create an account, look for your group volunteer shift on the calendar (Bay Club December 14, 10:00 am – 12:00 pm)
  • Click the “Sign Up” button to the right of your group’s volunteer shift.
  • Each volunteer will receive a confirmation email when signed up successfully.

Before You Arrive, Don’t Forget!

  • All volunteers must wear closed-toe shoes.
  • All volunteers must wear a mask that covers the nose and mouth at all times.
  • Do not volunteer if experiencing COVID-19 symptoms.
  • Volunteers must be six and older to volunteer.
  • Any volunteer under 18 must have a paper waiver signed by a parent or guardian signature if under 18 years. Both forms the release and liability and GMP Zone sections need to be complete.
